Chestnut Room: 2 – 5 years

Welcome to Chestnut room!

Welcome to preschool (3-5years) in this room we focus on school readiness to get children ready for reception. We do this by:

Introducing more structure into our daily routines

Encouraging independence through self care and good hygiene routines, self  serving breakfast, lunch, tea and snack times, being able              to have an input and make choices about their learning including indoor and outdoor play.

Circle times and group times are planned meticulously by our dedicated staff making sure to include our children interests and their                    next steps into each activity.

A strong focus on Phase 1 phonics, ensuring our children have the best listening skills when hearing sounds in words and beginning to                  recognize familiar words and logos.

A strong focus on mathematics; shapes and number in our well thought out environment allows our children to be naturally curious                      about shapes and number which enables our experienced staff to further knowledge in exciting and new ways.

Allowing children to have a voice and opinions will encourage self confidence and expression of feelings, understanding the world                      around them and others.
